Data Protection, Copyright and Media Law
Michael Hengstler advises companies, freelance artists and non-profit organisations in business law, data protection and media law as well as copyright law. He devises the legal framework for developing and operating innovative web platforms, accompanying the legally secure use of applications in the areas of sensor technology, electromobility and connectivity. In addition, he works on implementing projects in the cultural and events sector that are economically oriented as well as those that serve the common good. Here he is able to put his extensive technical and economic expertise to highly effective use.
Having joined the team in April 2018, in his role as ‘of counsel’ Michael Hengstler supports Spirit Legal on issues involving technology impact law and data protection, above all in the health sector. Before this, he worked as a legal expert for the Saxon Trade Association, advising companies on the legal framework in e-commerce, and as department head at the GRC’s regional association in Saxony.
Michael Hengstler is a certified Data Privacy Officer (TÜV).
Michael Hengstler graduated in law at the University of Passau, specialising in business law. He then completed his legal training, including with the Saxon Data Protection Commissioner and a Dresden law firm with a focus on commercial law.
Michael Hengstler is a board member of Afeefa – Digitaler Zusammenhalt e.V., member of the Impact Hub network in Dresden and teaches business law for start-ups at the RTG-Bildungszentrum.
In his free time, he enjoys travelling the world, playing guitar, acting and volunteering for integrative projects.
