Thomas Busch

Copyright and Media Law, Trademark and Competition Law

Thomas Busch deals with laws involving pictures, films, sound and texts. He advises and represents creative entrepreneurs, rights holders or rights users in all legal matters, in the drafting of contracts as well as in court.

Thomas Busch also advises on media law and is the person to speak to when it comes to the legally compliant design of blogs, journalistic content and e-commerce portals. He defends clients against unfair competitors, content theft or statements that damage their reputation. He represents journalists and media companies in the speech of freedom of opinion and information, in order to fend off unwarranted attacks against the texts and images of their reporting.

Thomas Busch joined the team at Spirit Legal in 2018. Before that he worked as an attorney-at-law specialising in copyright and media law in the Hanseatic City of Rostock.

Thomas Busch studied law in Marburg, Alicante and Leipzig. He worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Civil Law, Law of Civil Procedure and Copyright at Leipzig University, and was an examiner in the field of media law as well as lecturer at the HTWK Leipzig. He also worked in the legal department of an international music rights management company.

Thomas Busch has been a specialist lawyer for copyright and media law since 2024.

Outside the office, Thomas Busch enjoys attending concerts, relaxing in Leipzig’s Südvorstadt district and occasionally travelling to the Baltic Sea.
